What this site is
An educational planning tool. It applies a published bioload model and a published set of compatibility rules to a species database and to figures you supply, and it shows its working so you can check both.
What it is not
It is not veterinary advice, and it is not a substitute for observing your own tank. Nothing here creates a professional relationship of any kind. Live animals do not read databases: an individual fish may be more peaceful, more aggressive, larger or more delicate than its species entry says, and the fish in front of you is always the better authority.
Accuracy
The species data is compiled carefully from multiple sources, and the model is published so you can check the arithmetic. Even so, aquarium compatibility is genuinely contested among experienced keepers, published parameter ranges vary between reputable sources, and results depend entirely on the figures you enter. No warranty is given that any result is accurate, complete or suitable for your tank.
Quarantine new arrivals, test your own water, and introduce stock slowly regardless of what any tool tells you.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for any loss arising from use of this site or reliance on its output, including the loss of livestock, plants or equipment.
Fair use
Use the tools as much as you like, personally or in a shop. Do not scrape the species database at volume, republish it as your own, or present its output as a professional assessment you have performed.
Advertising
This site carries third-party display advertising. Advertisements are not endorsements, no advertiser has any influence over the species data or the compatibility rules, and no species appears or is recommended because someone paid for it.
